busy weekends

well, i think it's safe to say that we have officially entered into the season of busy weekends. baseball season is in full swing, the weather is absolutely beautiful, and there's always something going on. this weekend was very busy and full of long days. i guess it started out with the middle of the week when andy was gone for three days at a conference in orlando-then thursday we met for lunch and from there went to sarasota-we stayed at my moms-friday night we went to the Tampa Bay Rays vs. the Boston Red Sox-the game lasted nearly 12 innings-and the Rays won, after all of that! we drove back and then it was another full day-i helped out with childcare at a sister church and then andy had the honor of saying the drivers prayer and opening prayer at the new smyrna speedway-it was fun. we stayed and watched about three races-the last one being a truck race. it was a fun night because we were able to hand out church frisbees and invite a totally new crowd of people to church and then sunday-well, almost every sunday seems long-but yesterday was Friends Day!! we had a little extra setting up to do and cleaning up. all in all i'm excited about the busy weekends!!

sector jacksonville

this weekend was a little uneventful-andy had coast guard drills and instead of being in new smyrna he has been transferred to jacksonville-not so fun-a two hour drive both ways and new duties but i guess it wasn't too bad.

emery and i stayed at the house and although she meows at night-with no explanation-she's great during the day!! i got her a new toy to see if that would help at night-but without fail she was meowing before i knew it. tomorrow she goes to the vet and we'll see what he says.

church was good and next week we're looking forward to friends day!! an outdoor worship service and a fun filled afternoon with a little something for everyone!! i'll be sure to take pictures!

...and that's that!

...new news!

well, who can believe that it's nearly the middle of april already!!?? i can't!! there's lots to do in terms of wedding planning and in about a week i have an appointment with a florist. (lucky for me she's also a friend!)

things at work are good. we kicked off life groups last week and the youth one was very encouraging! we are working our way through max lucado's book 3:16 the numbers of hope; in children's church we are doing a 13-week series titled treasure seekers and we've had a great time so far!

andy and i are doing great and since fridays are usually our day off we spent the day deciding what to do to a few things around the house with the beginning of the list to do away with the wall paper in the kitchen and both bathrooms, then we want to refinish and paint the dinning room table. but the most exciting part of today's news is that we got a kitty! she is from the humane society-the pet adoption process is more detailed then i had imagined.

we walked into the feline room and there were crates with cats in each one-karma-her name before we adopted her, was in one of the first crates and she quickly welcomed us with nice meowing and pawing. she is a gray and black tiger with white spots-especially on her belly. we looked at the other cats and both andy and i returned to her. we filled out the paper work and paid the fee and now she's ours! we renamed her emery. the first thing we did was visit the foster home where i work to let hisham-whose 5-see her. he liked her and wanted us to stay until the rest of the kids got home-which was over an hour from the time we got there. so we left and let her explore in her new home. it's been a fun day!

Easter Recap!

For Easter, Andy and I were able to help with Crossroads Sunrise Service. It was actually the 32nd Annual Sunrise Service offered at 27th Ave. Park in New Smyrna Beach. In order to have the service run as planned we had to wake up at 4:00 a.m. in order to begin the set up process at 5:30. Service started at 7:00 and took place right on the beach with a goal in mind to end right at 7:24, as the sun rose over the horizon. Well everything worked out great-it's even being said that this year was the largest turn out, yet-however, the sun did not break through the heavy clouds. We still had a great time celebrating the fact that Christ rose from the dead in order to give us new life. Ben did a great job with his message-taking us through the week of Passion. Reminding each and everyone of us what that week was like for Jesus. The Praise Team did a great job and we even had a special with Brandon reciting Isaiah 40:28-31 at the end of the service. It's incredible to hear a 2nd grader proclaim God's Word. We also offered a Worship Service at 8:00 and had an awesome turnout for that! It's amazing to me to see the impact such a holiday has on people who normally wouldn't be in church.

Well, seeing as it is a holiday and there are some fun traditions-Andy and I did get each other an "Easter Basket" but in a different form. Andy gave me Easter dishes-a fun colletion of plates and bowls in which he used the bowl to fill with candy! And I got him a charging dock-much more applicable then a basket full of Easter grass and a golf bucket that he can put balls in. We figured that unless we save and reuse the basket there's really no point in getting one.

For Easter dinner we offered to make dinner for the Kids Are Us family-Andy is hooked on corn beef for the time being and so we made that and told the kids that it's Traditional Easter Dinner-consisting of rabbit and his favorite food-carrots! The two older kids caught on quickly that it really was rabbit but by the end of the night the little kids were saying that we had the "Easter Bunny" for dinner!! Reguardless all of the kids wanted seconds and we had a great time with them!! I'm sad to report that I don't have a picture of our "traditional" Easter dinner or the family that we spent Easter with.

I guess this is one of my longer posts and it should come to an end. To keep a long post short Andy and I hope that you and your family had a very blessed and enjoyable Easter!

empty rooms...

you've seen the house, but we didn't share pictures of the inside because, although there is furniture in the majority of the rooms there is not any in the living room. we've spent a few days looking but have not be successful. it's a little sad, because we really can't have people over unless it's only for dinner! (and we haven't even done that!)

hopefully we'll come across a great deal...soon! (then we'll post more pictures of the house)
